Like St. Thomas, Vancouver, all congregations throughout the Anglican Church of Canada are invited to sing "Amazing Grace" on Sunday, Nov. 23, and have it videotaped.
 
The singers are also being asked to give a two-dollar contribution (a "Toonie") to the work and ministry of the Church of the North, the grouping of nine dioceses in northern Canada assisted by southern dioceses due to high costs but scarce resources.

In late October, 2006, I was working at my church, St. James' Anglican in down town Vancouver, when I received the terrible call. In the heart of the indigenous peoples' unarmed uprising in Oaxaca, Mexico, my friend Chayo, was witnessing a murder.
An American, named Brad Will had been shot. "He's badly hurt!" she screamed. What could I do? I called the American Embassy in Mexico City and got them on the case, but before long we heard: Brad Will was dead.

Diocesan trust funds have held up in value much better than most, Diocesan Treasurer Jim Stewart told Diocesan Council last month. Still, they have lost money and parishes and the diocese will see somewhat reduced income next year.  Read More ...
